Mega Drama credits roller derby for making life more exciting. Thanks to the sport, she gets to travel to different cities for bouts, meet different girls, and she even got to skate at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, a famous location for concerts.
A confident person, Mega says she’s even more self-assured now that she’s getting used to being in front of people and skating in bouts. When she’s not playing roller derby, you might find her Irish dancing, and she even danced in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. But she says “You aren't allowed to hit people when you dance!” To round out her skills, Mega also does Krav Maga and is a green belt and student instructor.
One thing she is working on is her toughness. She says she’s not very aggressive, so she’s getting comfortable with that element of the game. Mega feels stronger since she started playing roller derby and jamming is her favorite part of the game. Her small and scrappy frame helps her get lower than other bigger skaters; her secret is to skate under the arms of the girls in the pack, since they don't always her me coming.
It was all her idea to start playing roller derby after she met a skater from Fort Collins on her 7th birthday. She was originally supposed to have the name Mega Trauma, but they wrote Mega Drama on her helmet. It stuck since she brings drama to the track!
