It’s where more than 5,000 skaters, league members, vendors, coaches, manufacturers, and fans converge from all over the world to skate fast, hit hard, turn left, and learn. It’s not a kids’ event, but it’s where thousands of skater athletes can learn about Dorothy’s Derby Chronicles and Rise of the Undead Redhead and buy hope the book for their kids, grandkids, sisters, nieces or, hey, nephews too. Come find us in the North Hall, by Five on Five, Booth #N19. We’ll have books for sale.
Let's Roll Out! Book Launch Book Signing Skating Event
It’s time to roll out! And celebrate the launch of the first-ever book series for tweens that is part of a roller derby adventure. If you like to roll—roller skates, roller blades, scooters or skate boards—come skate with us. Or just use your feet to join us at a special book signing, community skate party and skate swap to celebrate the launch of the new series Dorothy’s Derby Chronicles’ Book 1: Rise of the Undead Redhead.
Roller derby is not just for grownups anymore. In fact, thousands of young girls across the globe are playing roller derby now and experiencing the powerful messages of teamwork, body confidence and strength that roller derby brings to girls and women. The first book, for girls 9-12, is in stores in July 8, 2014. Tattered Cover will sell books at the event, the authors will sign copies and read the first chapter.
The event will include an equipment swap--wrist, knee, elbow pads and helmets--adult and junior roller derby demos and information, “bout” face painting station, fake tattoo station, food and drink. Tickets will be on sale for the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls August 23rd bout at The Fillmore. Any equipment not swapped will be donated to Rocky Mountain Rollerpunks and Girls, Inc.
